Midwest Wedding Travels

Made it back home today after a wedding shoot in Cape Girardeau on Saturday. Over the last four weeks, I've shot weddings in Mexico, Cape Girardeau, the Lake of the Ozarks, and on the other side of the river in Quincy, Illinois. Time to start editing and getting all this great footage assembled into some exciting wedding films!

New videos from Digital HQ

I've produced a set of videos over the last few years for Old Standard Wood, a company based in Fulton, MO that supplies musical instrument wood all over the world. The goal of the videos was to outline what Old Standard has to offer and give people a sense of the business. Because these are mostly information-based videos, they are very straightforward and news-like, without basically any camera or editing effects. The exception are the two "web promos" we also shot. They are a bit faster-paced and utilized some unique tracking shots that we achieved by using a construction grade Caterpillar forklift that would extend 20 feet into the air! (Picture me hanging from the forklift in the air shooting with my camera.) The shots surprisingly turned out great and gave the video a nice big-budget look. Now if I could only figure out a way to have a forklift on one of my wedding shoots...

From a bride's perspective...

It's always great to hear from couples after delivering their completed wedding video. So many hours are put into making the video sparkle and shine that it's very fulfilling to get feedback like this message that I got a few weeks ago. Thanks for the kind words, Molly & Cody! Here's some shots from a shoot that I did in June at Art Smith's studio here in Columbia, MO. He has a really great facility, and it proved to be the perfect setting for this corporate video shoot. The final video is almost complete, so look for it soon on the blog!

Wedding Video Weekend!

Headed to beautiful Shelter Gardens here in Columbia, MO for a wedding shoot this afternoon. The sun is shining and the fall colors are out in full force; it's a great day for a wedding! (October is about my favorite month of the year...) Following the ceremony, we're all headed to Elm Street Ballroom for the reception and dance. Look for some video highlights from this wedding soon!

Delta Sigma Phi Dedication

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of capturing some great events at the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity house on the MU campus. These guys have put a ton of work into their new house and invited alumni, family, and friends this weekend for a house dedication. The place looks amazing!



Following the house tours and dedication, we headed over to the Alumni Center for the fraternity's luncheon and awards ceremony. A big thanks to the gentleman of Delta Sigma Phi for letting me capture their day. It was great seeing the new house, and it's always good to visit the University of Missouri campus, i.e. my old stomping grounds...

Latest Wedding Stills

Wanted to do a quick check in with the blog and highlight some of my latest wedding stills pulled from the wedding video I'm currently editing. It's been a busy week here, with a great spring concert last week at Christian Chapel Academy and a dinner show at Jack's Gourmet Restaurant over the weekend. Projects on the horizon....Stay tuned!

Wedding Season has begun...

Had a great wedding shoot last weekend here in Columbia, MO. Thanks to Courtney and Chris for a wonderful day! My good friend Johnny Eaker did a great job as the photographer, and the folks at the Holiday Inn Executive Center put together a great reception. We even stuck around extra late to listen to the great live band! Anyway, packing up now for a wedding shoot in Fulton, MO later on this afternoon. Look for highlights from this wedding soon!

Website Update

I've been slowly updating the Digital HQ website a bit over the last week or so. Check it out if you haven't seen it in a while. The basic setup is the same, but I added a bit of new text and quite a few new images to spruce up things a bit. Above are a couple of the new images I used. I've also been busy shifting into wedding season mode. I've got my new camera tested, set up, and ready to go. Wedding shoots in Fulton and Columbia in the next three weeks!
